Karma AV is adding three new in-ceiling models to its Perlisten Audio line-up. Extremely versatile as LCR, surround, height or wide channel speakers, Perlisten’s new in-ceiling line is optimised to provide cinema designers with options for the controlled dispersion of high output/low distortion sound in the largest private cinemas.
Launched at the CEDIA Expo, Denver, the new S-Series and R-Series in-ceiling speakers are engineered using advanced Comsol acoustical modelling.
“The introduction of our new in-ceiling products truly makes us a complete partner to the custom integration channel, says Dan Roemer, Chief Executive Officer, Perlisten Audio.
“Once again, we are taking the lead presenting something extraordinary with the new flagship in-ceiling S3ic and the R3ic. It’s the first time a manufacturer has been able to achieve THX Certified Dominus in an in-ceiling model designed for the largest private theatres of up to 6,500 cubic feet/184 cubic metres.”
The three-way S3ic and R3ic are THX Certified Dominus Surround, while the two-way R2ic is THX Certified Ultra Surround.
All models feature the proprietary technologies employed by Perlisten’s in-wall models and its floor and stand mount loudspeakers, providing true timbre matching and complete design flexibility for high-end Dolby Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D applications.
The new S3ic and R3ic are housed in a sealed aluminium enclosure and are equipped with a patent-pending Directivity Pattern Control (DPC) waveguide comprising, respectively, a 28mm Beryllium dome tweeter and 28mm TPCD ultralightweight dome mid complemented by a 165mm TPCD woofer, and a 28mm silk dome tweeter and 28mm silk dome mid, complemented by a 165mm HFP pulp woofer.
The THX Ultra certified R2ic is a simplified two-way version of the R3ic, featuring an innovative new tweeter/waveguide DPC array of 28mm silk dome tweeter, complemented by a 165mm HFP pulp woofer. For the R2ic, a rear enclosure is optional.
The advanced DPC waveguide in each new in-ceiling speaker has been modelled by Perlisten to control directivity with a reference axis at 30 degrees and a broader listening window of +/- 30 vertical and +/- 55 horizontal degrees, allowing for ideal coverage within most listening spaces.
