Audio & Video, CEDIA Expo
Unique and unimaginable experiences are what make attending tradeshows—especially one like CEDIA Expo—such a cool experience, whether you’re part of the press pool like we are, an integrator who’s never missed a show, or even a vendor partner who plays a role in bringing those experiences to life. That was the crux of our conversation with Jason McGraw, group vice president for Emerald Exposition.
“The number one reason folks come to shows is to see new products… you see brands starting to collaborate with other brands, you’re seeing interesting applications of technology, you’re seeing new products that are taking things to the next level,” McGraw told us in that interview. “I personally always enjoy going through all the audio demo rooms… you get some really cool integrated solutions and you’re hearing the audio, cool video—it’s a great experience. You don’t normally have that opportunity. Maybe you can go to a local showroom, but not to see 10 or 20 rooms.”
While they’re all in the class of “can’t-miss,” there’s going to be one experience room in particular that draws a ton of attention out in Denver this year.
In what’s slated to be one of the most immersive home theater experiences ever put together, eight different brands will come together to build a home cinema demo featuring $1 million worth of gear. The innovative space—which will feature product from ASCENDO, Christie, madVR, Panamorph, Moovia, Seymour-Screen Excellence, Simplified Acoustics, and StormAudio—will present a state-of-the-art 14.18.10 demo that the brands claim will “set a new benchmark in immersive entertainment.”
There are certainly some challenges and drawbacks when it comes to these at-show experiences for the brands that produce them. Namely, the demo rooms get crowded and aren’t experienced in a real-world setting. In fact, the space itself isn’t a true-to-life home cinema environment. But still, when we’re talking about a seven-figure slate of solutions, they should be able to overcome those intricacies to put on a mind-blowing demo.
To that end, here’s a brief overview of some of the highlights of this million-dollar home cinema room:
Breaking out the abacus and doing a little arithmetic, those figures add up to a cool $1,321,539 retail for the entire system that will be on display—tax, shipping, and handling not included.
The demo will be featured in Sound Room 7 at CEDIA Expo this September.
